Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson.

I am Bob Gibson, President of the Rotary eClub of State of Jefferson. Welcome to this week’s meeting. I hope this finds you well. 

As we approach the end of 2022, it is common to be reflective on the past year. In the Rotary year, we are at the halfway mark. When I speak with new Club Presidents, I often tell them the most important part of their year is the planning that happens prior to July 1. Also, they should plan to accomplish their goals by January 1. Generally, the second half of the Rotary year is spent finishing projects and making plans for the next year.

Now is a good time to assess what we have accomplished this Rotary year:

• Our work with the Navajo Nation and the Chinle Literacy project has progressed. With Foundation, District, and Club funds, we have maintained our relationships and continued our work. Rotarians Jean Hamilton, Bruce Garrett, John Cox, and John Allman have provided the work to make this happen.
• We have continued, and finalized, the updating of our Club Bylaws. Carol Fellows and John Cox worked on this effort. They built on the previous work of Bruce Garrett and Greg Brown. It provides the enabling legislation that guides our Club. The challenge is to create a document that doesn’t conflict with the RI guidelines, while being sensitive to our unique organizational needs.
• We continue to have weekly programs that are of the highest quality. This is a result of the work, passion, and effort of Bruce Garrett. When you come across an article or video that would be an interesting program, please pass it on to Bruce.
• The No Borders Rotaract Club continues to do impressive work. The members utilize the available technology to engage members worldwide.
• Finally, I am always grateful for the interaction at our Board meetings. Your officers and Board members, Jean Hamilton, Mitch Allen, Carol Ruggeri, Jackie Oakley, Lucinda Kolo, John Cox, and Geoff James are active and engaged. Thoughtful decisions come after energetic and respectful discussions.

With half of our Rotary year behind us, there is still much to do. There are opportunities for service that we have yet to discover. It is a great time to get involved. Rotary works because of our diverse bodies of knowledge and experience. Every Rotarian makes a difference.
