Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson.
I am Bob Gibson, President of the Rotary eClub of State of Jefferson. Welcome to this week’s meeting.
I hope this finds you well.
Your Board of Directors met last week. We discussed the opportunities of service projects in Ukraine, Uganda, and the Navajo Nation. There are critical needs in each country that are consistent with Rotary International. Each of these areas have passionate “champions” in our Club. That is the essential ingredient for success. I believe we can create a service plan that addresses some of the needs in each area and doesn’t stretch our resources too thin. More information will be coming out on the specifics of each area of service.
Creating opportunities for fellowship remains one of my priorities. I am scheduling another “Coffee Chat” membership meeting for Saturday morning, August 19 at 10:00am PDT. I would like to use that time to discuss our Club Foundation and how it can be a tool for our Club to participate in a variety of service projects and respond to request for support. I am developing an agenda for the meeting. If you have something related to our foundation that you would like to discuss, please let me know.
I am going to try an additional opportunity for fellowship. Next week I am starting a weekly Zoom meeting on Tuesday mornings at 9:00am PDT. These will not take the place of our weekly Club meeting. My intention is to have an unstructured 30 minutes, or so, opportunity for conversation and discussion. For those of you that have been in traditional Rotary Clubs, this is the sort of conversation that takes place over lunch, before the meeting starts. I have always enjoyed that part of the meeting. It’s also a challenge for an eClub, such as ours. I will be sending out the link and we’ll see what happens. I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
