After Rotary International adopted the six areas of focus, several monthly Rotary themes were re-designated to reflect those areas. March, formerly Rotary Literacy Month, is now Water & Sanitation Month. This TED Talk highlights worldwide challenges posed by lack of, or limited access to, clean water, as described by Deepika Kurup, a young scientist determined to solve the global water crisis since she was 14 years old. After she saw kids outside her grandparents' house in India drinking water that looked too dirty even to touch, she began her research into solutions in her family kitchen -- and eventually led to a major science prize.
